Concert Band and Orchestral Music

Concert Band Music Presently Available: Scottish Folk Song Suite arranged by William Hunter for concert band. This composition features the solo bagpipes and is Grade 4-5. It was premiered by the Oconee County High School Symphonic Band for the 2007 Georgia Music Educators Conference in Savannah, Ga. Selections featured in performance order are: Percussion Fanfare, The Braes of Birniebouzle (slow strathspey), I'll ay ca' in yon Toun (reel), The Winter it is Past (slow air by Burns), Dark Island, and Bonnie Dundee. The Mp3 recording features Tara Winds of Atlanta, Ga. Brian Boru's March arranged by William Hunter is for concert band and is Grade 4-5. It was premiered in 2009 by Tara Winds of Atlanta under the direction of the composer. This composition requires a large instrumentation including both string bass and piano. Solo instruments included are: bassoons, piccolo, soprano saxophone, orchestra bells, xylophone, tuba, piano, and flute. Brian Boru's March, originally written as a tribute to the High King of Ireland at Tara, is one of the oldest known tunes in the history of Irish music. Blessing and Honor is an arrangement for concert band featuring either a bagpipe solo or duet, and is Grade 2-3. "Amazing Grace" and "O for a Closer Walk with God" are featured in a traditional setting, but changes to 4/4 time for a grand climax with brass fanfares and percussion. It will be premiered by the Richmond Hill MS in January 2011 for the Georgia Music Educators Conference. Orchestra & Ensemble Music Presently Available: Highland Cathedral is an arrangement for either concert band or orchestra by William Hunter with permission of Uli Roever & Michael Korb. This popular tune is arranged especially for middle school band orchestra, but is enjoyable by older musicians. It features the solo bagpipes and can also include a full pipe band for a grand finale. The MP3 recording features excerpts of the Carrollton Junior High 8th Grade Band in concert at the University of West Georgia.
Highland Cathedral: Processional/Recessional is an arrangement for bagpipes, pipe organ, and brass quintet by William Hunter with permission of Uli Roever & Michael Korb. This popular tune is arranged with a performance in church in mind, and includes a full score, pipe organ with cued transposed piping part, a "written pitch" bagpipes part, 1st trumpet, 2nd trumpet, horn, trombone, and tuba parts.
